Africa Diaspora Fund for Local Social Innovators

ADF–LSI is a platform for Africans in the diaspora to create lasting impact by connecting those with resources to those driving solutions on the ground. It supports grassroots innovators tackling Africa’s most urgent challenges through personalized Legacy Funds.

Donors align their giving with their values, choose focus areas linked to the UN SDGs, and approve the winning innovator—selected by expert judges as part of the Sustaining Impact Summit. With a minimum contribution of $500 held in escrow, ADF–LSI offers a transparent, meaningful way to stay connected to the continent.

This is more than giving—it’s a legacy in action.

Why Your Legacy Starts Here

Across Africa, bold social innovators are solving real-world challenges—education, clean energy, food security, and more. But they often lack the resources to sustain or scale their solutions.

As someone in the diaspora, you can change that. By creating a Legacy Fund through the Sustaining Impact Prize, you directly support African changemakers working in the areas you care most about.

Children feeding program

Need for a Children Feeding Program Malnutrition and hunger remain significant challenges affecting vulnerable children, particularly those from low-income households. Inadequate access to nutritious meals leads to poor health, stunted growth, and reduced cognitive development, ultimately limiting their ability to perform well in school and achieve their full potential. A structured children feeding program is therefore essential to bridge this gap by ensuring consistent access to balanced meals. This initiative not only promotes physical well-being but also enhances learning capacity, reduces absenteeism, and contributes to breaking the cycle of poverty within communities.

Rehabilitation of inmates ( Repairer of the breach)

Prisons are not only centers of confinement but also potential environments for transformation. However, without structured rehabilitation, incarceration often results in recidivism, broken families, and unproductive reintegration into society. Many inmates come from backgrounds of poverty, limited education, unemployment, and trauma, which contribute to their involvement in crime. Simply serving a sentence does not address these underlying issues. Rehabilitation programs are therefore essential to equip inmates with the skills, knowledge, and mindset necessary to rebuild their lives after release. Education, vocational training, counseling, and life-skills development reduce idleness, improve self-esteem, and open pathways to lawful employment. Studies consistently show that effective rehabilitation reduces re-offending rates, lessens prison overcrowding, and lowers the economic burden of maintaining correctional facilities.

As part of the 2025 Sustaining Impact Summit, this virtual fireside chat is designed to explore how social enterprise ecosystems can be structured and scaled to drive long-term, inclusive, and sustainable impact. With over two decades of experience, Social Enterprise UK (SEUK) stands as one of the world’s most influential social enterprise networks—offering a valuable model for peer networks, policy influence, and member engagement.

Africa is witnessing a rise in social innovation and entrepreneurship, but the enabling infrastructure to support these ventures often remains fragmented or underdeveloped. Learning directly from SEUK’s experience will equip summit participants—especially ecosystem builders and network leaders—with adaptable insights on what it takes to build, govern, and sustain thriving social enterprise communities.
