EVOLVING FOR IMPACT: A NEW SEASON FOR ASEW AND SIS 8.

By

Since we launched our first workshop back in 2019, our mission has been clear: to support, build, and sustain social enterprises across Africa. We have spent the last few years working hand-in-hand with you, navigating the core challenges of funding, scaling, and operational efficiency. Together, we have grown from a small group of curious innovators into a sprawling, vibrant community spanning Nigeria, Namibia, Tunisia, Zambia, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Ethiopia, Uganda, South Africa, and beyond.

As our community has expanded, so has the nature of our work. We’ve realized that the rhythm of daily capacity building is fundamentally different from the rhythm of an annual industry gathering. To serve you better and ensure we are providing the highest level of targeted support, we have decided to clarify the distinct identities of our two main pillars: The African Social Enterprise Workshop (ASEW) and The Sustaining Impact Summit (SIS).

The Engine Room: The African Social Enterprise Workshop (ASEW)

Moving forward, ASEW will remain our primary technical support platform. Think of ASEW as the “engine room” of your social venture. This is where we focus on the granular work: the technical skills, the mentorship, the peer-to-peer brainstorming, and the daily capacity building that you need to survive and thrive.

Our goal with ASEW remains steadfast: to foster a continuous environment of knowledge exchange. Whether it is through our Workshops, our Impact Builders Program, our Seminars, our MentorMe initiatives, or our deep-dive Q&A sessions, ASEW is your dedicated space for the consistent, hard work of building and refining your business models for impact.

The Main Stage: The Sustaining Impact Summit (SIS)

While ASEW is your daily support system, the Sustaining Impact Summit (SIS) serves as our annual flagship gathering. SIS is where we zoom out. It is our “main stage,” designed to bring together the entire ecosystem—practitioners, policymakers, industry experts, and development organizations—to celebrate the resilience of the sector and look at the big picture.

While SIS remains an ASEW initiative at its heart, separating its identity allows us to keep the summit entirely focused on macro-level impact, ecosystem networking, and policy advocacy.
