Announcing the Winners of Our Inaugural Sustainable Impact Prize

We are thrilled to announce the winners of our first Sustainable Impact Prize, recognizing outstanding innovations and their resilience in addressing the UN Sustainable Development Goals in Africa. After a thorough evaluation of the five candidates, we are pleased to declare the following winners:

1st Place: Olasumbo Adeleke (92%)

Olasumbo Adeleke is the Executive Director of Initiative for Gender Empowerment and Creativity. Her organization is into the empowerment of small holder farmers to improve their products to global standard through training on improved processing. Her organization currently works in the shea sector, building and increasing the productivity of shea butter processors and improving the shea butter produced.

Olasumbo emerged as the 1st prize winner, walking home with:

– $250 cash prize

– A free one-year subscription to People & Planet First verification badge

– Media package

– Ambassadorship and mentorship opportunities

2nd Place: Meshack Ondora Nyaberi (84.2%)

Meshack Ondora Nyaberi is the Chief Executive Director, Angel Smile Initiative. Angel Smile Initiative (ASI) NGO is a faith-based, non-profit making organization dedicated to fostering sustainable development in underprivileged communities. With a strong focus on empowering women, youth, and people with disabilities (PWDs), ASI has been operational for over three decades, officially registering in 2022.

Meshack emerged as the 2nd prize winner, walking home with:

– $150 cash prize

– A free one-year subscription to People and Planet First verification badge

– Media package

– Ambassadorship and mentorship opportunities

3rd Place: Happiness Adama Ojochegbe (82.67%)

Happiness Adama Ojochegbe is the founder of Happi Leather Craft and Tote. Her idea behind Happi Tote emerged from a growing awareness of the environmental damage caused by nylon and fabric waste. Witnessing the widespread littering of these materials and their harmful effects on the environment, she felt compelled to find a creative solution. Her organization’s concept of upcycling waste materials into stylish and functional tote bags resonated with her belief that nothing should go to waste and that every material can be transformed into something valuable.

Happiness emerged as the 3rd prize winner, walking home with:

-$100 cash prize

– A free one-year subscription to People and Planet First verification badge

– Media package

– Ambassadorship and mentorship opportunities

We congratulate all our finalists on their remarkable achievements and commitment to creating a sustainable future.

Despite coming 4th and 5th place, our other finalists:

– Benjamin Olurunfemi, Executive Director of Rays of Hope Support Initiative (ROHSI) organization

– Wirghan Solange, Chief Executive Director of Arm of Love health association

also walked away with ambassadorship and mentorship opportunities as a form of support and encouragement to keep up the good work.
